Reiki is a natural form of healing based on Universal Life Force or Divine Energy – which is readily available to everyone. This energy exists within every living thing – if it didn’t there would be no life! It is unlimited and knows no boundaries. Universal Life Force energy works to bring balance and harmony on all four levels of being:
Physical: The aches and pains of our physical body
Mental: Our beliefs which are often deep-rooted and not necessarily appropriate to us
Emotional: If we fail to deal with emotional states as they arise they can become trapped only to manifest as serious challenges many years later
Spiritual: Many of us have lost contact with who we really are and how we link with every other living being.
We can use the energy on ourselves, other people, animals, plants, places, situations, food, water – in fact anything and everything as long as we have permission and are able to connect in some way. Reiki is taught in three levels. Reiki 1 is the introductory level when we learn how to connect and work with the energy on ourselves and other people in a safe and respectful way. At Reiki 2 we discover sacred symbols that can help us to identify and work with particular aspects of the energy. At this level we also learn techniques for distant healing. Reiki 3 is all about discovery of the self.
Each Reiki Essence comprises the vibration of the chosen aspect of Universal Life Force Energy, spun together with sacred water, crystal vibrations and blended oils. Each aspect, as represented by the appropriate symbol, is multi-functional so you can choose to focus on the particular aspect or be open to the whole of its energy, allowing universal intelligence to link with whatever finer aspects are required.
You can use an essence whenever you wish to bring an aspect of Reiki energy into your or another person’s life. If you are a Reiki practitioner you can use these sprays during your treatments. Read through the properties of each essence to help you select the most appropriate one.
 Sei Hei Ki – Love
Sei Hei Ki represents love – Unconditional Love. It is the aspect of Reiki that brings this unconditional love back to us, restoring balance to the emotions and mind. It is about forgiveness and peace, release from karma and letting go of habits, obsessions and addictions that do not serve us well. It is protective in a gentle and loving way.
Key associations with Sei Hei Ki are: Love, peace, forgiveness (of self or others), letting go, peace of mind, protection, comfort, gentleness, compassion, creating good habits, nurturing.
 Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen – Connection
‘May the Buddha in me connect to the Buddha in you to promote peace and harmony’.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is the aspect of Reiki that connects us to everything that exists. It connects us to the source of Universal Life Force and to all planes of existence. It symbolises the energy that connects us to any time, any place or any thing – allowing us to focus Universal Life Force towards restoring peace and harmony. It takes us beyond boundaries and obstacles.
Key associations with Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen are: Link to the Divine within and without, connection, other worlds and dimensions, breaking through, link to past, karma, past, ancestors, present, descendants, future, connection to events and other places, link to akashic records.
 Cho Ku Rei – Power
Cho Ku Rei draws Universal Life Force and manifests it here now. It is a very active and decisive aspect of Reiki and appropriate use of it is similar to issuing a command or royal decree. Cho Ku Rei has the ability to gather energy into something or to take energy away, depending on what is needed to restore balance. It is excellent for grounding and for bringing thoughts and inspiration to reality. It is also highly protective and strong.
Key associations with Cho Ku Rei are: Cleansing, gathering, protection, here and now, grounding, physical, power, energy, manifestation, focus.
