Earth Seasons Essences
£9.99 each
The self-imposed pressures of modern living have caused many of us to lose contact with Mother Earth. Are we so busy watching reality TV that we have lost sight of what is truly real? Many seem to place great importance on owning bigger and better houses, cars and possessions. Seemingly we are moving further and further away from the reality of nature’s cycle, the very cycle that sustains us.
If we allow ourselves to recognise and follow the natural cycle then we have the opportunity to live in a way more closely aligned with how our ancestors lived. All we need do is recognise what is occurring around us during the natural cycle of Mother Earth and live our lives in harmony with this cycle. This cycle is often referred to as the Wheel of the Year and our ancestors lived by and honoured the importance of this annual cycle through eight festivals.

Each of our Earth Seasons Essences has been created to help bring into our lives the energy associated with that particular time of the year. By using the essence we can recall and beneficially use the energy of that time, whenever we feel it is appropriate. Read through the descriptions of each of the essences in order to decide which is appropriate.
Samhain
Autumn is ending and Winter is beginning. Life is withdrawing as the days become increasingly cold and dark. As we let go of the old year we can see the possibilities of new life in the coming year. Now is not the time for action but for rest, renewal and rejuvenation. Samhain is a magical time when the veil between this realm and spirit is at its thinnest – a time when we can draw close to our ancestors for contact, knowledge and wisdom.
Winter Solstice
The nights are at their longest but from now on the days will lengthen as sunlight slowly returns to us. This is the time of Rebirth. We have had time to rest and regain our strength. We have also had time to develop new ideas and plans and now can begin to focus on these seeds that are awaiting the sun’s warmth to initiate their germination. Now is also time for us to look back on what we have done in the year and the knowledge and wisdom we have gained.
Imbolc
Buds are swelling on the trees, snowdrops are flowering and birds sing their praises to the warming sun. This is the time of awakening of everything around us and now it is time for us to bring our new ideas and plans out into the light to grow. It is a time of initiation, a time for working with inspiration and a time for expression of our deep-rooted feelings and beliefs. Now we need to be aware of what is happening around us and within us as fertility returns and new life, new beginnings are all around us.
Spring Equinox
The first day of Spring – a time of potential and balance. Winter is now truly over with buds bursting open and seeds beginning their germination. Everything is stirring with life after the dormancy of Winter. Now we feel our power surging back as the hours of daylight increase. We feel an urgency to make things happen, to be outside reconnecting with the Earth and to create opportunities for positive change in our lives and with everything around us.
Beltane (not yet available)
Everything reaches a peak of activity. Life bursts forth around us, sap rises in the trees, birdsong fills the air and the Earth is clothed with a green mantle. Beltane is the festival of friends and lovers – for celebrating union in all its guises. Now we reach the most active time of the year, it is the beginning of Summer. This is the time to consider how we should expend our energy. It is a time of expansion and every thing we do now will help us to achieve those goals we nurtured during the dark times.
Summer Solstice
Summer is at its height as we reach the time when the days are their longest and the nights are at their shortest. This is a time for recognising and honouring our achievements, for counting our blessings. We can stop for a moment and look back on what we have achieved and also recognise what didn’t work. By doing this we can start to recognise what worked well and what didn’t work out. This is the time for generosity and goodwill to all.
Lammas (not yet available)
The first harvest – the grain that gives us our basic Winter sustenance and also the seeds for next year’s crop. It is time to give thanks to the Earth for its abundance and also time to be grateful for our own achievements. The Sun’s power is diminishing. It is time to start recognising what we have learned and create the seeds for our future growth that can be stored and nurtured over the coming months. It is a time for gratitude, revelry, trading and acknowledgement of the forthcoming inward journey.
Autumn Equinox
First harvest was bountiful yet frenetic. Now the berries, fruits and nuts are ripening. Sap withdraws back into the roots and leaves start to fall to provide nourishment for the following year. It is time to review what has been achieved during Spring and Summer and make plans for future growth. Autumn is the time to let go of what we no longer need. It is the time to relax, to unwind, to nurture our plans to ensure we provide the best conditions for growth in the future. Autumn is also the time when we can start to go within, knowing that we will be able to reconnect with our inner wisdom.
